History of the Shop
The Sled Shop, Inc. opened June 1992. Owners Kevin and Julie Freeman bring a long history in outdoor recreation to the business.
Kevin’s background began in snowmobiling in 1966 driving a Ski-Doo Olympic 12/3. In his lifetime to date, Kevin has logged in excess of 300,000miles driving snowmobiles in his lifetime. While Kevin may be the one behind the counter at The Sled Shop, his extensive snowmobile experience makes his customers feel like he’s more “one of them” than just being a sales person or the owner of the business.
A 12-year professional snowmobile racing career in snowmobile ice drag racing has given Kevin an opportunity to find the ultimate tune-up for nearly every snowmobile situation. He earned multiple high point championships with the Maritime Snowmobile Racing Federation, attended US World Series of Drags and won titles at the Canadian World Series of Drags. One visit to The Sled Shop showroom and you’ll see the impressive group of trophies, titles and awards accumulated over Kevin’s pro career.
Beside the opportunity to compete at the highest level, Kevin and their support staff have maintained the close relationship with people met at the racing events, enabling a unique network to exist with the best snowmobile performance shops in North America.
Closing their 20th season of business with Ski-Doo Snowmobiles, The Sled Shop is a platinum certified BRP dealership. This certification only comes after all service and customer criteria have been met or exceeded. Their store in Presque Isle, Maine is one of only 5 such certified BRP dealerships in Maine.
Selling Ski-Doo snowmobiles, as well as BRP Can-AM Atv’s, Sea-Doo Watercraft, Suzuki ATV and Suzuki Motorcycles gives the store a year-round presence in outdoor recreation. They are a certified Suzuki sales and service center with over 15 years dealership experience with Suzuki.
